Humanities through the Arts

What does it mean to be human? What can the arts tell us about how people grappled with that question? In this course, we will consider the "arts" and what they tell us about humanity, culture, and the world from various times and places. By that, we mean from Aristotle to Cardi B.

Over the course of the semester, we will explore the “arts,” broadly defined to include the interrelationship between visional art, literature, music, philosophy, architecture, and sculpture. The range of material will hopefully enhance appreciation and understanding of all forms of creative human expression.
